Sunroof / Moonroof: Service and Repair
Power Sunroof Assembly:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Headlining from vehicle. Service and Repair
Removing Power Sunroof Relay:
3. One bolt and power sunroof relay from vehicle, disconnecting electrical connector.
Removing Power Sunroof Motor:
4. Three bolts and power sunroof motor from vehicle, disconnecting two electrical connectors.
Drain Hose:
^ Loosen four drain hose clamps and remove four drain hoses from power sunroof housing assembly.
5. Eighteen bolts, four nuts and power sunroof housing assembly from vehicle.
DISASSEMBLE
^ Unclip power sunroof interior trim and remove from power sunroof panel.
IMPORTANT: Note the location and number of shims on either side of power sunroof panel before removal.
Power Sunroof Panel Mounting Bolts:
1. Six mounting bolts and power sunroof panel from housing.
Removing Weatherstrip Holder:
2. Eighteen screws and weatherstrip holder from panel.
^ Pull weatherstrip loose and remove power sunroof panel.
Wind Deflector:
3. Four screws and wind deflector from housing.
4. Two screws and drip channel from housing.
Removing Drive Cable Guide Cover:
5. Two screws and drive cable guide cover from housing.
Drive Cable Guide Block:
6. Two screws from each drive cable guide block and blocks from housing.
7. One screw from each drive cable stopper and stoppers from housing.
Removing Drive Cable Bracket From Sunroof Housing:
^ Slide each drive cable bracket, with cable, out of the power sunroof housing guide rails.
ASSEMBLE
^ Slide each drive cable bracket, with cable, into the power sunroof housing guide rails. Make sure outer guide pins are inserted into the housing guide rail slots.
1. Drive cable stoppers to housing, secure each with one screw.
2. Drive cable guide blocks to housing, secure each with two screws.
3. Drive cable guide cover to housing, secure with two screws.
4. Drip channel to housing, secure with two screws.
5. Wind deflector to housing, secure with four screws.
^ Apply weatherstrip adhesive GM P/N 12345096. or equivalent, to the power sunroof panel weatherstrip.
6. Weatherstrip to power sunroof panel.
7. Weatherstrip holder to panel, secure with eighteen screws.
8. Power sunroof panel to housing 1 secure with six bolts, do not tighten fully.
9. Shims to power sunroof panel.
TIGHTEN
^ Power sunroof panel bolts to 7.9 Nm (70 lb. in.).
Installing Sunroof Interior Trim:
^ Slide power sunroof interior trim onto the panel, make sure that the two guide pins slide into the interior trim brackets.
^ Clip power sunroof interior trim onto power sunroof panel.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Power sunroof housing assembly to vehicle, secure with four nuts and eighteen bolts.
TIGHTEN
^ Power sunroof housing assembly nuts and bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb.ft.).
2. Four drain hoses to power sunroof housing, secure each hose with hose clamp.
3. Two power sunroof motor electrical connectors.
4. Power sunroof motor to roof, secure with three bolts.
TIGHTEN
^ Power sunroof motor bolts to 5.4 Nm (48 lb.in.).
5. Power sunroof relay electrical connector.
6. Power sunroof relay to roof, secure with one bolt.
TIGHTEN
^ Power sunroof relay bolt to 4.5 Nm (48 lb. in.).
7. Headlining to vehicle. Service and Repair
8. Negative (-) battery cable.
TIGHTEN
^ Negative (-) battery cable to negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
