Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

General Description

GENERAL
The VIN 6 engine is a four cylinder in-line engine which utilizes dual overhead camshafts (DOHC) which operate the intake and exhaust valves. Each of the four cylinders is equipped with two intake and two exhaust valves. The timing belt drives the exhaust side camshaft which in turn drives the intake side camshaft. This operation is accomplished via two gears; one gear is attached to the exhaust side camshaft which drives the gear attached to the intake side camshaft. Each camshaft is supported in five places: between the valve lifters of each cylinder and at the front end of the cylinder head.
