Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
IMPORTANT:When installing a new evaporator, add 40 cc (1.4 ft. oz.) of refrigerant oil to the refrigeration system.
Remove or Disconnect
1. Discharge and recover refrigerant.
2. Disable the SRS.
3. Negative (-) battery cable.
4. I/P compartment.
5. Evaporator outlet pipe from the evaporator.
6. Evaporator inlet pipe from the evaporator.
7. Hold-down brackets for evaporator inlet and outlet pipes.
8. One screw and right vent tube.
9. A/C amplifier electrical connector.
10. One bolt and A/C amplifier from vehicle.
Description:
11. Evaporator temperature sensor electrical connector.
12. Three nuts, three screws and evaporator case from vehicle, disconnecting two electrical connectors.
Install or Connect
1. Evaporator case to vehicle, connecting two electrical connectors; secure case with three nuts and three screws. Tighten Evaporator case nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb. in.).
2. Evaporator temperature sensor electrical connector.
3. A/C amplifier to vehicle, connecting electrical connector and securing with one bolt.
4. Right vent tube, secure with one screw.
5. Hold-down brackets for the evaporator inlet liquid and outlet pipes.
6. Evaporator inlet pipe to evaporator. Tighten Evaporator inlet pipe fitting to 14 Nm (124 lb. in.).
7. Evaporator outlet pipe to evaporator. Tighten Evaporator outlet pipe fitting to 32 Nm (24 lb. ft.).
8. I/P compartment to vehicle.
9. Negative (-) battery cable.
10. Enable the SRS.
11. Evacuate and recharge air conditioning system.
12. Operate A/C system and check for refrigerant leaks.
