Compressor Drive Belt Inspection & Adjustment
Routine inspection of the compressor drive belt may reveal small cracks in the belt ribs. The technician must decide whether or not these cracks are serious enough to impair belt performance, requiring belt replacement. If any sections of the belt are missing, the belt should be replaced immediately.Description:
1. Inspect belt for proper alignment on the compressor and the crankshaft drive pulley.
2. Check the compressor drive belt tension using 10 kg (22 lbs.) of thumb pressure to the following specifications:
^ New belt: 6-7 mm (0.240.28 inch).
^ Used belt: 8.5-9.5 mm (0.33-0.37 inch).
