A245E Automatic Transaxle

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.





2. Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) electrical connector from VSS.
3. One bolt and VSS from transaxle case.

Inspect
- For VSS diagnosis procedures, refer to POWERTRAIN MANAGEMENT.
- VSS O-ring for cuts or damage. Replace as necessary.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
^ Tool Required:
- J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant

1. Apply J 36850 to the VSS O-ring.
2. VSS into transaxle case; secure with one bolt.
- Tighten Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
3. VSS electrical connector to VSS.
4. Negative (-) battery cable.
