System Performance Check

Fig. 16 Performance Test Chart:

NOTE: Performance test must be performed when humidity is 60 to 80%. If below 50%, the temperature and pressure readings will be lower than the range listed in Fig. 16. If above 80%, readings will be higher.

Fig. 20 Manifold Gauge Set Installation For System Testing:

1. Connect suitable gauge manifold following manufacturer's instructions, Fig. 20.

Fig. 4 Proper positioning of thermometers for performance test:

2. Insert dry bulb thermometer in cold air outlet and position wet/dry bulb thermometer (psychrometer) as close as possible to blower inlet, Fig. 4.

Fig. 16 Performance Test Chart:

3. Test under following conditions:
a. Avoid direct sunlight.
b. Open engine hood.
c. Open front doors and windows.
d. Set recirculation lever to Recirc.
e. Set temperature control lever to Cold.
f. Set selector lever to Vent.
g. Set fan switch to High.
h. Push A/C button on.
i. Run engine at 1,500 rpm.
4. After running system for about 10 minutes under conditions in step three, read thermometer and pressure gauges.
5. Performance of system is satisfactory if the measurements are within the limits shown in the performance charts, Fig. 16.
6. High pressure reading should be approximately 200 psi. Low pressure reading should be approximately 35 psi. If readings are incorrect, then refer to "SYSTEM PRESSURE DIAGNOSIS."
