Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

NOTE: Check for clogged fuel filter or restricted fuel lines before performing fuel pump test.

Fuel Pressure Gauge:

1. Disconnect fuel line at fuel filter and connect fuel pressure gauge as shown.
2. Disconnect fuel return line and plug return fitting.
3. Start the engine and allow to idle until fuel pressure stabilizes, then shut OFF. Pressure should be:

2.7-3.8 psi (17.7-26.5 kPa)

- If fuel pressure is within specifications, proceed to step 4.
- If fuel pressure is not within specifications, replace fuel pump and recheck.

Fuel Volume Test:

4. Remove fuel pressure gauge and place hose over a graduated container.
5. Start the engine and allow to idle for 60 seconds, then shut OFF. Fuel volume should be at least:

5.7 ounces (170 cc)

6. If fuel volume is less than specified, replace fuel pump and recheck.
