Evaporator Temperature Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

Fig. 33 A/C thermostat test:

1. Immerse thermostat capillary tube in temperature controlled solution and connect ohmmeter to terminals, Fig. 33.
2. Cool capillary tube while observing ohmmeter.
3. Cut-off should be 33-35°F for Accord and Prelude or 31-35°F for Civic and CRX.
4. Warm capillary tube while observing ohmmeter.
5. Cut-on temperature should be 37-41°F.
6. If cut-off or cut-on temperatures are too low or too high, replace thermostat.
