Semi-metallic brake pads are available for a number of models. During a brake lining inspection, if the pads have worn more than usual for the mileage on them, they should be replaced with a set of semimetallic pads from the list below.
NOTE: A brake lining inspection is advisable if the brake fluid level is near the "MINIMUM" mark on the reservoir, of if the "BRAKE" warning light comes on.

^ Before installing semi-metallic pads, resurface both discs using either the Honda Brake Disc Grinder, the Kwik-Way Kwik-Lathe and Power Feed, or the Snap-on Front Disc Brake Lathe and Power Feed. If this is not done, the brake pedal effort may be unacceptably high while the pads are wearing in.
Wear indicator:
^ Clean all sliding surfaces on the calipers, then coat them with Molykote M77 lubricant, which is included with some kits. Molykote is also available in a handy 50 gram size (H/C 2466803).
^ Wear indicators are riveted on one end of each of the inside pads.. Install the inside pads with the wear indicator end up.
^ Always use new shims. Apply Molykote M77 lubricant to both sides of all shims.
^ During the test drive, break-in the pads with 20 light brake applications. Allow at least 30 seconds between applications to avoid overheating.
