Timing Belt Replacement at 60,000 Mile Maintenance Interval (Supersedes 87-026 dated OCT 2, '87)
To enhance vehicle durability at extended mileage, camshaft timing belts on the applicable 1984 and 1985 models should be replaced at or before the 60,000 mile service with the improved belts listed below.

NOTE:

^ After installing the improved belt, it will normally not need to be replaced again.

^ This addition to the maintenance schedule will be customer-pay; it is not a warranty item.

^ When replacing the timing belt, also inspect the water pump for any looseness, leakage, or bearing noise. If its condition is questionable, recommend to the customer that it be replaced.

^ Center-punch the firewall over the last V.I.N. digit to indicate that the latest timing belt is installed.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

Owners of applicable 1984 and 1985 models will be notified of this Maintenance Schedule addition by mail. The letter will be sent on April 13, 1988. The text of the customer letter is shown on the reverse side of this service bulletin.
