Removal and Installation
Fig. 5 Receiver/drier installation.:
1. Run engine at idle speed and turn on A/C for a few minutes.
2. Shut engine off, then disconnect battery ground cable and discharge A/C system.
3. Disconnect compressor clutch electrical connector.
4. Remove left front under cover, then engine lower grille cowling.
5. Remove receiver/drier, Fig. 5, then plug open lines and receiver fittings.
6. Disconnect suction and discharge lines from compressor, and cap lines and compressor ports.
7. Loosen belt adjusting bolt and on models with Kehin compressor, loosen idler pulley nut, then remove belt from pulley. On Civic with power steering and Nippondenso compressor, loosen power steering pump and remove power steering pump belt before removing compressor belt.
8. Remove compressor mounting bolts and nuts, then remove compressor assembly from between radiator and engine.
9 Reverse procedure to install. Adjust compressor belt to obtain 9/32-11/32 inch deflection on Keihin type compressor and 5/16-25/64 inch deflection on Sanden type compressor when force of 22 lbs. is applied between pulleys.
