Fig. 14 Intake Air Control Diaphragm:





1. Start engine and run until cooling fan comes on.
2. Disconnect and plug air control diaphragm hose.
3. Connect tachometer.

4. Using a clamp pinch off vacuum hose between frequency solenoid "C" and the vacuum chamber.

5. Turn out idle control screw until it is flush with the bracket it is threaded into.

6. By turning the throttle stop screw lower idle speed to below 580 rpm.

7. Adjust idle speed to 630 ± 50 by turning the idle control screw.
8. Using the throttle stop screw again, adjust idle speed to 700 ± 50 rpm.

9. With the brake applied and the engine idling in gear, adjust idle speed using adjusting screw "A".

Expected result:
High Alt 675 ± 50 rpm.
Low Alt 700 ± 50 rpm.

10. If equipped with air conditioning, return vehicle to "P" or "N".
11. Turn on air conditioning, and using adjusting screw "B" adjust idle to 700 ± 50 rpm.
12. Remove clamp installed on hose in step 4.
13. Stabilize by snapping the throttle between idle and 2500 rpm 2 or 3 times. Recheck idle speed in "P" of "N".

Expected result:
730 ± 50 rpm.
