Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Civic & Civic Wagon w/1.5L Engine; CRX & CRX HF Models

1. Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose from dashpot diaphragm, and check engine speed. Engine speed should be 2000---3000 RPM.
3. If engine speed is excessively high, bend tab on diaphragm linkage as required.
4. If engine speed remains unchanged, connect vacuum gauge to disconnected vacuum hose and check for presence of vacuum. If vacuum is not present, check hose for cracks or blockage, or damaged 2-way or 3-way joint. If vacuum is present, replace dashpot diaphragm and repeat procedure.
5. Reconnect vacuum hose and ensure that idle speed is within specification.
