Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Engines w/Throttle Body Injection

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Relieve fuel pressure, refer to ``Relieving System Fuel Pressure'' procedure.
3. Remove air intake chamber, then disconnect injector electrical connectors.
4. Remove injector attaching screws, then the injectors from throttle body assembly.
5. Coat new O-rings with engine oil, place onto injectors, then insert injectors into throttle body. After installation, ensure injectors can be rotated approximately 30°.
6. After installation is completed, turn ignition switch On and ensure no leakage is evident.

Engines w/Multi-Point Injection

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Relieve fuel pressure, refer to ``Relieving System Fuel Pressure'' procedure.
3. Disconnect injector electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect vacuum hose and fuel return hose from the pressure regulator.
5. Loosen retainer nuts on fuel pipe and harness holder, then disconnect fuel pipe.
6. Remove injectors from intake manifold.
7. Install new cushion ring and O-ring on the injector, then the injector in hole of fuel pipe.
8. Press seal ring into the intake manifold, then install injector and fuel pipe assembly in manifold, aligning center line of injector electrical connector with index mark on the intake manifold.
9. Install and tighten injector retainer nuts.
10. Connect vacuum hose and fuel return hose to fuel pressure regulator, then the injector electrical connectors.
11. Turn ignition switch to On position and check for fuel leakage.
