Fuel Injector: Service and Repair


1988 Prelude
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then relieve fuel pressure as previously described.
2. Disconnect electrical connectors from injectors.
3. Disconnect vacuum and fuel return hoses from pressure regulator. Place rag or shop towel over hoses before disconnecting them.
4. Disconnect fuel hose from fuel pipe.
5. Remove electronic air control valve from intake manifold.
6. Loosen retaining nuts on fuel pipe and harness holder, then disconnect fuel pipe.
7. Remove injectors from intake manifold.
8. Slide new cushion rings onto injectors.
9. Coat new O-rings with clean engine oil and place them on injectors.
10. Insert injectors into fuel pipe first.
11. Coat new seal rings with clean engine oil and press them into intake manifold. To prevent damage to O-rings, install injectors in fuel pipe first, then install them into intake manifold.
12. Align center line on connector with mark on fuel pipe.
13. Install and tighten retainer nuts.
14. Connect vacuum and fuel return hoses to pressure regulator.
15. Install connectors on injectors.
16. Turn ignition switch on and off, without operating starter, three or four times, then check for fuel leakage.
