Intake Air Control System
INTAKE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM
Cold Engine
Intake air temperature must be below 77°F.
1. Disconnect air intake duct and start engine. Air control door should rise.
2. If door does not rise, disconnect No. 8 vacuum hose from air control diaphragm and connect vacuum pump. There should be vacuum.
3. If there is vacuum, replace air control diaphragm and repeat test.
4. If there is no vacuum, check No. 8 vacuum hose for proper connection, cracks, blockage or disconnected hose and replace air bleed valve A.
Hot Engine
1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Air control door should be down.
2. If air control door is not down, disconnect No. 8 vacuum hose from air control diaphragm and connect vacuum pump. There should be no vacuum.
3. If there is no vacuum, replace air control diaphragm and repeat test.
4. If there is vacuum, replace air bleed valve A and repeat test.
