Throttle Control System

1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
2. Disconnect No. 6 vacuum hose from throttle controller and check engine speed. Engine speed should be 1700-2700 RPM for manual transmission or 1400-2400 RPM for automatic transmission.
3. If engine speed is excessively high, adjust engine speed by bending tab at base of throttle controller.
4. If engine speed does not change, connect vacuum pump to No. 6 vacuum hose and check vacuum. There should be vacuum.
5. If there is no vacuum, check No. 6 vacuum hose for proper connection, cracks, blockage or disconnected hose and replace check valve.
6. If there is vacuum, replace throttle controller and repeat test.
7. Reconnect No. 6 vacuum hose and ensure idle speed is within specifications.
