3 Speed Automatic Transaxle


No Drive In Any Range

1. Low fluid level.
2. Faulty oil pump.
3. Stuck regulator valve or damaged spring.
4. Servo shaft sticking.
5. Damaged mainshaft.
6. Manual shift linkage improperly adjusted.
7. Damaged final gear.
8. Broken flex or drive plate.
9. Clogged transaxle filter.

No Drive In Low

1. Low fluid level.
2. Shift linkage improperly adjusted.
3. Worn or damaged one-way clutch.
4. Damaged low gear.
5. Faulty first clutch.
6. Defective 1-2 shift valve.

No Drive In Second

1. Low fluid level.
2. Shift linkage improperly adjusted.
3. Damaged second gear or second clutch.

No Reverse

1. Low fluid level.
2. Servo shaft sticking.
3. Damaged reverse gear or second clutch.

Engine Races On Acceleration, Stall Speed High In D & 2

1. Low fluid level.
2. Faulty oil pump.
3. Regulator valve sticking.
4. Shift linkage improperly adjusted.
5. Defective torque converter check valve.

1. Low fluid level.
2. Faulty oil pump.
3. Shift linkage improperly adjusted.
4. Worn or damaged first clutch.

Engine Races On Acceleration, Stall Speed High In 2

1. Shift linkage improperly adjusted.

1. Damaged or worn 1-2 shift valve or governor valve.
2. Fluid level too high.

4. Throttle control cable improperly adjusted.

1. Throttle cable improperly adjusted.
2. Inadequate engine power.
3. Defective oil pump.

No 1-2 Upshift, 2-3 Upshift Satisfactory

1. Damaged or worn 1-2 shift valve.

No 1-2 Upshift, Engine Races In 2

1. Damaged or worn second clutch.

Upshift Speed Too High

1. Damaged or worn governor valve or throttle valve.
2. Throttle cable improperly adjusted at carburetor.
3. Defective modulator valve.

Jumps From Low To 2 In Drive

1. Defective 2-3 shift valve.

Low-2 & 2-3 Upshift Occur Too Soon

1. Damaged or worn governor valve or throttle valve.
2. Improperly adjusted throttle cable at carburetor.

Kickdown Point Too Low

1. Damaged or worn 1-2 shift valve.
2. Damaged or worn 2-3 shift valve.

Engine Races On 2-3 Upshift

1. Defective throttle valve.
2. Defective 2nd or 3rd accumulator or orifice control valve.
3. Dirt in main orifice.
4. Defective 3rd clutch.

Engine Vibration, 2-3 Upshift

1. Defective orifice control valve.
2. Dirt in second orifice.
3. Defective 2nd clutch.
4. Dirt in separator port orifice.

Vehicle Creeps In Neutral, Shift Cable Properly Adjusted

1. Damaged or worn first clutch or second clutch.
2. Throttle cable improperly adjusted at carburetor.
3. Burned bearing or thrust washer.
4. Fluid level too high.
5. Defective 3rd clutch.
6. Improper clutch clearance.

Delayed Neutral To Drive Shift With Shift Cable Properly Adjusted

1. Damaged or worn first clutch.
2. Dirt in low orifice.

Delayed Neutral To Reverse Shift With Shift Cable Properly Adjusted

1. Servo shaft sticking.
2. Damaged or worn second clutch.

Engine Vibrates At Idle

1. Defective oil pump.
2. Lack of engine power.

Rough 1-2 Upshift

1. Defective 2nd clutch.
2. Defective 2nd accumulator.
3. Missing 2nd ball check valve.

Torque Converter Lock-Up Harsh

1. Throttle control cable improperly adjusted.
2. Throttle valve B defective.
3. Torque converter check valve defective.
4. Defective control valves.

Torque Converter Clutch Will Not Disengage At Low Engine Speed

1. Defective lock-up cut valve.
2. Defective governor cut valve.
3. Defective lock-up shift valve.

Vibration With Lock-Up Clutch Engaged

1. Defective lock-up control valve.
2. Defective lock-up piston.
