1. With the engine at normal operating temperature, remove the air cleaner cover and filter.
2. Start the engine and check for air suction noise (a bubbling sound) from the air suction port, Fig. 51, at idle. If the 'bubbling' noise is not present, disconnect the #5 hose from the air suction valve, Fig. 52, and check for vacuum.
a. If there is vacuum, replace the air suction valve and re-test.
b. If there is no vacuum, re-connect #5 hose and go to "FEEDBACK CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE" test in "OXYGEN SENSOR SYSTEM."
3. Raise the engine speed above 2000 rpm and listen at the air suction port in the air cleaner housing. There should be no 'bubbling' noise. If a 'bubbling' noise is heard, disconnect hose #5 and check for vacuum.
a. If there is vacuum, re-connect #5 hose and go to "FEEDBACK CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE" test in "OXYGEN SENSOR SYSTEM."
b. If there is no vacuum, replace the air suction valve and re-test.
