General System Description
These vehicles are equipped with a Programmed-Fuel Injection Electronic Control Unit PGM-FI ECU. The ECU along with it`s various sensors and activators are a complete engine management system. The system uses the inputs from all of the sensors, air pressure, both internal and external, temperatures, exhaust oxygen content, engine and vehicle speed, etc.. It processes these inputs to determine ideal operating conditions. It sends outputs to its activators to control idle speed, fuel injection duration for mixture control, ignition timing, plus the emission control functions. It also controls other functions as needed for optimum performance, and emission control, along with fuel economy.
