1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Slide both front seats back fully.
3. Remove center console as follows:
a. Lift up parking brake lever.
b. On manual transmission models, remove shift lever knob.
c. On all models, remove screws in numbered sequence as shown in Fig. 14.
d. Remove console from vehicle.
4. Remove fuse lid and disconnect wire harnesses from connector holder and fuse box. Disconnect sunroof switch connector, if equipped, Fig. 15.
5. Remove fuse box mounting nuts, then lower fuse box if necessary.
6. Disconnect ground cable at right of steering column and power door mirror switch connector, Fig. 16.
7. Remove side air vent knob and face plate, then remove two screws attaching side air vent control lever, Fig. 17.
8. Remove center panel and radio, then three screws attaching heater control panel to instrument panel, Fig. 18

9. On four door models, remove gauge upper panel, Fig. 19.
10. On three door and station wagon models, remove cluster bezel Fig. 20.
11. On all models, disconnect speedometer cable.
12. Lower steering column, Fig. 21.
13. Remove side defroster garnishes from both ends of instrument panel and center upper lid from top of instrument panel, Fig. 22.
14. Remove all instrument panel mounting bolts, then lift and remove instrument panel from vehicle.
15. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure that instrument panel fits onto body correctly.
b. Before tightening instrument panel bolts, ensure wires are not pinched and panel does not interfere with heater control cable.
c. When attaching steering column, refer to Fig. 21 for torque specifications
