PCV VALVE TEST

1. Check the crankcase ventilation hoses and connections for leaks, cracks and clogging, Fig. 60.

2. Test the PCV valve by pinching the PCV hose with pliers with the engine at idle, Fig. 61. A clicking sound sould be heard from the PCV valve.
a. If no clicking is heard, check the PCV valve grommet for cracking or damage.
b. If the grommet is OK, replace the PCV valve and re-test.

BLOW-BY FILTER TEST

1. Inspect the condition of the blow-by filter (mounted to the air cleaner, Fig. 62).
2. Replace the filter if:
a. The filter is stuck to the air cleaner housing and is saturated with oil.
b. If the filter is clogged with dust and dirt.
