Centrifugal Advance

Toyo-Denso Distributor:

1. Disconnect and plug vacuum advance diaphragm vacuum hoses.

2. Connect timing light with an advance tester.

3. Start and run engine until cooling fans operate.

4. Ensure that initial timing is 4° BTDC at idle.

NOTE: If initial timing is incorrect refer to ignition timing in the ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES section.

5. Accelerate engine to 2500 RPM. Check timing to ensure that timing advances. Return engine to idle and ensure timing returns to 4° BTDC.

NOTE: If timing did not advance or return in step # 5 remove, lube, or overhaul distributor as necessary.
