Reassembly

1. Place shift arm A in the clutch housing, then push the shift rod through the shift arm.
2. Install the steel ball, spring, spring bolt and shift arm attaching bolt.
3. Install the spring collar, spring and steel ball.
4. Install shift arm B into the interlock.
5. Install the interlock assembly and shift arm C into the clutch housing. Install the shift arm shaft into the clutch housing, aligning the shift arm shaft holes and shift arm holes B and C.

NOTE: Do not install the 1st/2nd select spring and plug bolt yet.

6. Install the reverse lock cam and magnet.
7. Install the differential assembly.







8. Insert the shift fork shaft into the shift forks and drive in the spring pins.
9. Install the spring washer and thrust washer with the angle against the clutch housing as shown below.
10. Insert the mainshaft and countershaft into the shift forks and install them as an assembly.




11. Evenly align the notches of the mainshaft and counter- shaft shift forks as shown, then install the mainshaft and countershaft into the clutch housing as an assembly.

NOTE: Fit the tab of the interlock assembly into the notches of the shift forks as you lower the mainshaft and countershaft into the clutch housing.

12. Install the shift arm B attaching bolt.




13. Install the 1st/2nd select spring and plug bolt.
14. Install the interlock guide bolt under the clutch housing.
15. Install the reverse idler gear and idler shaft.
16. Install the reverse shift holder.

NOTE: Select the mainshaft thrust shim according to the measurements.




17. Install the oil guide plate and mainshaft thrust shim into the transmission housing.




18. Apply sealant to the transmission mating surface of the clutch housing.

NOTE: This transmission uses no gaskets between the major housings; use Sealant, (P/N 08718-550000 OE). Assemble the housings within 20 minutes after applying the sealant and allow it to cure for at least 30 minutes after assembly before filling it with oil.




19. Install the dowel pins.
20. Place the transmission housing over the clutch housing being careful to line up the shafts.
21. Install the snap ring to the countershaft ball bearing.
22. Install the 32 mm sealing bolt.
23. Install the transmission attaching bolts in the numbered sequence shown below.
24. Connect the breather tube.
25. Install the cable bracket.
26. Install the back-up light switch.
