Distributor: Service and Repair

Ignition Coil:





DISTRIBUTOR ASSEMBLY

1. Disconnect the radio noise condenser ground wire.

2. Disconnect the secondary ignition wires from the distributor cap.

Distributor Removal:





3. Disconnect the 4 pin connector from the distributor.

4. Remove the 3 distributor hold down bolts and remove the distributor from the cylinder head.

NOTE: Coat a new O ring with engine oil prior to installing the distributor

5. Install the distributor in cylinder head.

Distributor Lugs And Grooves:





NOTE: The possibility of installing the distributor 180° out of time is eliminated by offset lugs on the end of the distributor shaft

6. Connect the 4 pin connector to the distributor.

7. Connect the radio noise condenser ground wire.

Distributor Cap:





8. Connect the secondary ignition wires.

9. Adjust ignition timing. Refer to ignition timing in ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES section.

IGNITION TIMING
15 +/- 2° BTDC (Red mark)
at 750 +/- 50 RPM in neutral
Torque: 16 ft lb (22Nm)

10. Torque distributor hold down bolts to specifications.
