Antilock Brakes - Indicator Light ON/Code 2 Set

What to Do for ALB Code 2

Whenever an ALB-equipped car is driven for more than 30 seconds with the BRAKE indicator light on, the ALB indicator light will come on and the ALB control unit will display Code 2.

Driving with the parking brake partially applied is the most common cause of Code 2. The fix is simple (nothing's wrong with the car). All you have to do is pull the fuse that clears the ALB control unit's memory (No. 27 in the under-hood fuse/relay box on Prelude, ALB B2 in the ALB fuse box on Accord).

Another cause of Code 2 is low brake fluid level in the master cylinder Here's what to check if you get one of these:

^ Check the brake pad wear. It's possible that well-worn pads could cause the level to drop enough to make the indicator light come on.

^ Check for external leaks in the brake system. (One leak that's hard to find is a master cylinder that leaks into the vacuum booster. You have to remove the master cylinder to see it.)

^ The last and least common cause of Code 2 is a short or open in the BRAKE light circuit (GRN/RED wire). The Code 2 troubleshooting in the S/M gives you the check points.
