Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes




1. Stop Engine.
2. Turn ignition switch on and ensure anti-lock warning light comes on.

3. Restart engine and check anti-lock warning light.
a. If light goes off, there is no problem with anti-lock brake system.
b. If light comes back on proceed to step 4.

4. Stop engine.

Service Check Connector:






5. Disconnect the service check connector from connector cover located under the dash on the passenger side of vehicle.
Connect both terminals of service check connector with a jumper wire.

6. Turn ignition switch on, but do not start engine.

7. Record blinking frequency of anti-lock brake system indicator light.
Blinking frequency indicates problem code

Caution: Before starting engine, disconnect the jumper wire from the service connector, or else the Check Engine light will stay on with the engine running

8. After a repair is completed, disconnect anti-lock brake B2 fuse for at least three seconds to erase control units memory, then turn ignition switch on and recheck.
