Ignition Control Module: Testing and Inspection
Ignition Igniter Wiring:
1. Remove the distributor cap, rotor and the inner cover.
2. Disconnect the BLK/YEL, WHT/BLU, YEL/GRN and BLU wires from the igniter unit.
3. Turn the ignition key ON. Check for battery voltage between the BLK/YEL wire at the igniter unit and body ground. If voltage is present, go to STEP 4. If there is no voltage, check the BLK/YEL wire between the ignition switch and the igniter unit.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON. Check for voltage between the WHT/BLU wire and body ground. Battery voltage should be present. If there is no battery voltage, check the ignition coil and the WHT/BLU wire between the ignition coil and the igniter unit. If there is battery voltage go to STEP 5.
5. Check the YEL/GRN wire between the PGM-FI ECU and the igniter unit.
6. Check the BLU wire between the tachometer and the igniter unit.
7. If all tests are normal, replace the igniter unit.
