Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

NOTE: Check the following in numerical sequence.

ROUGH IDLE

1. EGR System (16 valve VTEC-E engine only) (fault code 12).
2. Positive Crankcase Ventilation System.
3. Intake manifold sealing gasket. (fault code 14).

FREQUENT STALLING

During Warm Up
1. EGR System (16 valve VTEC-E engine only) (fault code 12).
2. Idle Control System (EACV) (fault code 14).
3. Carbon build up on intake valves.

POOR PERFORMANCE

Misfire or Rough Running
1. EGR System (16 valve VTEC-E engine only) (fault code 12).

Fails Emission Test
1. Catalytic converter.
2. Evaporative Emission Control System.
3. EGR System (16 valve VTEC-E engine only) (fault code 12)
4. PGM-FI Control System in back-up mode. ("CHECK ENGINE" light on, but not flashing).

Loss Of Power
1. Catalytic converter
2. EGR System (16 valve VTEC-E engine only) (fault code 12).
