Resonator: Description and Operation

Intake Air Components:

The resonator provides additional silencing as air is drawn into the intake system. When the fuel ECU senses engine speed below 3500 RPM, it energizes the resonator control solenoid. Which supplies vacuum to the intake control diaphragm, opening a large flap within the resonator. Opening the flap increases the throat size which lowers intake noise.
