Turn Signals: Description and Operation
Turn Signal OperationWith the ignition switch in RUN or START, voltage is supplied to the turn signal/hazard relay contact and flasher unit.
With the hazard warning switch OFF, the flasher unit provides pulsed voltage to the turn signal switch. When you push the turn signal switch lever up (or down), pulsed voltage is provided to the front and rear turn signal lights, the turn signal indicator light, and the front side marker flasher relay. The side marker flasher relay, in turn, provides pulsed voltage to the front side marker light.
In HEAD or PARK, the headlight switch provides a signal to the side marker flasher relay. The front side marker lights then flash alternately with the turn signal lights. the turn signal lights and front side marker lights then flash at the same time.
Hazard Lights Operation
With the hazard warning switch ON, voltage is applied at all times to the turn signal/hazard relay. Hazard light operation is similar to turn signal operation, except that all the lights flash at the same time. If the headlights are ON, the side marker lights and front turn signal lights will flash alternately.
