Installation
1. Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise to the engine level.2. Check that the four dowel pins are installed.
3. Install the three transmission housing mounting bolts.
4. Install the transmission mount and transmission mount bracket.
NOTE: Torque mounting bolt and nuts in sequence shown.
CAUTION: Check that the bushings are not twisted or offset.
5. Install the transmission housing mounting bolts (Engine side).
6. Install the three rear engine mount bracket mounting bolts.
7. Install the rear engine mount bracket stay.
NOTE: Loosely install the stay mounting bolt and nut, then torque in the sequence shown.
8. Install the intake manifold bracket.
9. Install the clutch cover.
10. Install the radius rod.
NOTE: Check the radius rod rubber bushings for deterioration and damage.
11. Install the damper fork.
12. Install the intermediate shaft.
13. Install a new set ring on the end of each driveshaft.
14. Install the right and left driveshafts. Service and Repair
NOTE: Turn the right and left steering knuckle fully outward, and slide axle into the differential until you feel its spring clip engage the side gear.
15. Install the damper fork bolt and ball joint nut to the lower arms.
NOTE: Check that new cotter pin is seated firmly.
16. Install the clutch damper assembly.
17. Install the clutch hose joint and slave cylinder to the transmission housing.
CAUTION: Take care not to bend the clutch pipe.
18. Install the power steering speed sensor and connect the VSS connector.
19. Install the shift cable and select cable to the shift lever and to select lever respectively.
CAUTION: Take care not to bend the cables.
NOTE
- Check that the new cotter pin is seated firmly.
- Turn the boot so the hole is facing down.
20. Connect the back-up light switch connectors and the transmission ground cable.
21. Install the starter motor and connect the starter motor cables.
NOTE: When installing the starter motor cables, make sure that the crimped side of the ring terminal is facing out.
22. Install the harness holder.
23. Reinstall the battery, then reconnect the battery positive (+) and negative (-) cables.
24. Attach the front wheels.
25. Refill transmission with oil.
26. Check and adjust the following items after reassembly.
1. Transmission has been refilled.
2. The clip at the tip of the driveshaft is completely inserted into the groove of the differential or intermediate shaft.
3. Clutch free play.
4. Shift the transmission and check for smooth operation.
5. Front wheel alignment.
