Head Restraint Lower Seam Won't Stay Tucked In

PROBLEM

The plastic retaining strip is not set securely.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Refasten the lower upholstery seam on the head restraint. Use the removal procedure on page 20-67 of the 1993 Civic Coupe Service Manual.

1. Remove the head restraint from the seat.

2. Protect the fabric with a clean piece of cardboard, and place the head restraint in a vise-like holder.

3. Compress the head restraint slightly to allow for ease of reassembly.

4. Using a flat tip screwdriver, carefully fold the plastic sewn strip over, and tuck it into the plastic J-strip. Start at one end and work across the headrest. Make sure the plastic strip and the J-strip are centered with each other to avoid gaps at the corners.

5. Reinstall the head restraint.
