Instrument Panel and Dash Components Removal and Installation
NOTE: SRS wire harnesses are routed near the dashboard and steering column.
CAUTION:
- All SRS wire harnesses are covered with yellow insulation.
- Before you disconnect any part of an SRS wire harness, connect the short connectors.
- Replace the entire affected SRS harness assembly if it has an open circuit or damaged wiring.
- For additional precautions, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts.
CAUTION: When prying with a flat tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.
INSTRUMENT PANEL REMOVAL:
1. Remove:
- Console panel
- Glove box
- Stereo radio/cassette
2. Remove the switches and disconnect the connectors.
- Cruise control master switch/moonroof switch
- Panel brightness controller
- Rear window defogger switch
3. Remove the heater air vent, and disconnect the air mix control cable.
NOTE: Adjust the air mix control cable when reassembling.
4. Lower the steering column and remove the screws. Carefully pull out the instrument panel.
5. Disconnect the heater control panel connectors.
6. Remove the heater control panel.
7. If necessary, disassemble the center air vent and side air vent (driver's).
8. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
DASHBOARD LOWER COVER AND KNEE BOLSTER REMOVAL
1. Remove the coin pocket.
2. Remove the screw and detach the clips, then remove the dashboard lower cover.
3. Remove the knee bolster.
4. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
GLOVE BOX REMOVAL
1. Open the glove box.
2. Remove the screw, then remove the damper from the glove box.
3. Remove the screw and bolts, then remove the glove box.
4. Remove the damper and striker.
5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
SIDE AIR VENT (FRONT PASSENGER'S) REMOVAL
1. Remove the glove box.
2. Carefully pry the side air vent at the lower edge, then pull it out.
SIDE DEFOGGER TRIM REMOVAL
Carefully pry the side defogger trim at the rear edge, then remove it.
