Squeak While Turning Steering Wheel
SYMPTOM
A squeak comes from the steering column while turning the steering wheel.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Not enough grease between the pinion shaft and grommet.
VEHICLES AFFECTED
Ohio and Canada production only.
4-door: 1HGEG....RL025302

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Apply Lithium Dielectric Grease (see RECOMMENDED MATERIALS) between the pinion shaft and grommet.
1. Remove the steering joint cover.
2. Use a small screwdriver to insert the grease between the pinion shaft and the grommet.
3. Reinstall the steering joint cover.
4. Verify that the squeak has disappeared.
