Ceiling Light - Intermittently or Totally Inoperative

Ceiling Light Stops Working

SYMPTOM

The ceiling light does not work, or it works only intermittently. It may work if you push on the switch or the ceiling light housing.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The switch contacts are open because the terminal base is bowed.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the ceiling light assembly.

The normal warranty applies.

Out of warranty:
Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the ceiling light lens.

2. Remove the mounting bolt, then remove the light housing from the ceiling.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector.





4. Compare the new ceiling light assembly to the one just removed to make sure it is the new style.

5. Install the new ceiling light assembly in the reverse order.

6. Test the light.
