Rear Door Glass Squeak

SYMPTOM

A squeak from the rear door glass as it approaches the fully closed position or as it starts to move downward.

PROBABLE CAUSE

Lack of lubricant on the glass stop rubber sleeve.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Lubricate the glass stop rubber sleeve with the silicone grease listed under REQUIRED MATERIALS.

1. Lower the rear window approximately three inches.

2. Remove the rear door panel. Refer to page 20-10 of the 1996 Civic Service Manual.





3. Remove the 6 mm washer-bolt from the glass stop, then remove the glass stop from the door panel.





4. Wipe off the glass stop rubber sleeve with a shop towel, then apply silicone grease to both sides of the rubber sleeve.

5. Reinstall the glass stop and the rear door panel, then raise and lower the rear glass several times to confirm the repair.

6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 for the other rear door.
