Intermediate Shaft Disassembly/Assembly

Fig. 5 Intermediate Shaft Assembly:

1. Remove set ring, then the intermediate shaft outer seal from bearing support, Fig. 5.
2. Remove external circlip.
3. Press intermediate shaft out of shaft bearing using support base tool No. 07965-SD90100 and support base attachment tool No. 07JAF-SH20400, or equivalents, and a press.
4. Remove internal circlip.
5. Press intermediate shaft bearing out of bearing support using press and driver tool No. 07749-0010000, attachment tool No. 07746-0010300, support base tool No. 07965-SD90100 and support base attachment tool No. 07JAF-SH20400, or equivalents.
6. Press intermediate shaft bearing into bearing support using press and driver tool No. 07749-0010000 and attachment tool No. 07746-0010400, or equivalents.
7. Seat internal circlip in groove of bearing support with tapered end facing out.
8. Press intermediate shaft into shaft bearing using press and attachment tool No. 07746-0030400, or equivalent.
9. Seat external circlip in groove of intermediate shaft with end facing out.
10. Install outer seal into bearing support using driver tool No. 07749-0010000, attachment tool No. 07746-0010400, attachment tool No. 07LAD-PW50601, or equivalents.
11. Install new set ring in intermediate shaft groove.
