Engine Installation






NOTE: Install the engine in the reverse order of removal. Reinstall the mount bolts/nuts in the following sequence. Failure to follow these procedures may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce bushing life.

Automatic Transmission:




Manual Transmission:





1. Install the transmission mount and bracket, then tighten the bolts on the frame side.

NOTE: Install, but do not tighten the bolt/nuts on the transmission side.





2. Install the side engine mount and upper bracket assembly, then tighten the bolts on the frame side.

NOTE: Install, but do not tighten the bolt/nut on the transmission side.





3. Tighten the rear mount bracket mounting bolt.





4. Install the front mount and front mount bracket, then tighten the bolts on the frame side.

NOTE: Install, but do not tighten the bolts on the engine side.





5. Tighten the bolt and nut on the side engine mount and upper bracket assembly.









6. Tighten the bolt and nuts in the numbered sequence as shown ((1) - (2)).





7. Tighten the bolt and nuts in the numbered sequence as shown ((1) - (2)).
8. Perform the following:
- Check that spring clip on the ends of the driveshaft and intermediate shaft clicks into place.

CAUTION: Use new spring clips.

- Adjust the shift cable. Refer to Powertrain Management.
- Adjust the throttle cable. Refer to Powertrain Management.
- Refill the engine with engine oil.
- Refill the transmission with fluid. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
- Refill the radiator with engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System.
- Bleed air from the cooling system at the bleed bolt with the heater valve open.
- Clean the battery posts and cable terminals with sandpaper, assemble them, then apply grease to prevent corrosion.
- Inspect for fuel leakage. Refer to Powertrain Management.
- After assembling fuel line parts, turn on (II) the ignition switch (do not operate the starter) so that the fuel pump operates for approximately two seconds and the fuel line pressurizes.
- Repeat this operation two or three times, and check for fuel leakage at any point in the fuel line.
- Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter the customer's radio station preset.
