Rattle From the Ceiling Light Area
SYMPTOM
You hear a rattle from the ceiling light area when driving on a bumpy road.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Body flex causes movement between the headliner and the moonroof stiffener.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Apply wool felt to the headliner near the ceiling light opening.

DIAGNOSIS
Test-drive the vehicle on a bumpy road, and check that the noise goes away when you press on the ceiling light. If the noise goes away, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. If the noise continues, look for other possible causes.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the moonroof trim.
2. Remove the ceiling light assembly (see page 22-111 of the 1998-99 Accord Service Manual).
3. Cut two 15 x 100 mm pieces of wool felt.
4. Apply the wool felt pieces to the headliner as shown.
5. Reinstall the ceiling light assembly.
6. Reinstall the moonroof trim with the seam at the rear of the moonroof opening.
7. Test-drive the vehicle on a bumpy road to make sure the noise is gone.
