Loose or Broken Temperature and Fan Control Knobs
SYMPTOM
The temperature or fan control knob feels loose.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Residual grease from the switches gets on the control knobs, the grease deteriorates the plastic, and the knobs crack or break.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Clean the switch shafts with denatured alcohol or other non-petroleum-based cleaner, and install the new control knobs.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Use a pair of pliers to remove the old or broken temperature and fan control knobs.
NOTICE: To avoid damaging the center panel, do not pry off the knobs.
2. Clean both switch shafts with denatured alcohol; make sure you remove all grease from the shafts.
3. Install the new control knobs.
