REVISION SUMMARY

*Under WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION, the flat rate was changed.*

BACKGROUND

The PCM software for the Insight with CVT delays misfire detection for 20 seconds after a cold start. This delay does not comply with emissions regulations.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION





All owners of affected vehicles will be mailed a notification of this product update campaign. A copy of the customer notification is at the end of this service bulletin.

Some of the affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory. These should be repaired before retail sale.

Not all of the vehicles in the VIN range are affected by this campaign. Before beginning work, verify that the vehicle is eligible by doing one of the following.

^ The customer has a notification letter.

^ The vehicle is shown on your campaign responsibility report.

^ The vehicle is shown as eligible on a VIN Status Inquiry on DCS.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

*Use the HDS to update the software in the PCM.*

Use the software version from the October

2001 or later Hondanet CD.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify that the October 2001 or later Hondanet CD has been loaded in your Hondanet 2000 master terminal. If not, load the CD. The instructions are included with the CD.

2. Update the vehicle's PCM with the HDS.





3. Center-punch a completion mark above the third character of the engine compartment VIN.
