Transmission Installation

Special Tools Required
^ Engine hanger support bar 07AAK-S5AA000
^ Engine support hanger, A and Reds AAR-T-12566
^ Engine hanger adapter EQS00BRSX0
^ Front subframe adapter EQS02ACVC0

These tools are available through the Honda Tool and Equipment Program 888-424-6857.
1. Flush the ATF cooler.
2. Remove the used grease in the flywheel hub cap and flywheel splines.

3. Fill the inside of the flywheel hub cap (A) and coat the flywheel hub splines (B) with about 1.5 to 2.5 grams (0.05 to 0.09 oz.) of Super High Temp Urea Grease (P/N 08798-9002). Do not overfill the flywheel hub cap with grease.

4. Install the front mount.

5. Install the new rubber sealing ring (A) on the input shaft (B).
6. Install the flywheel (C) on the input shaft, and install the 14 mm dowel pins (D) in the flywheel housing.
7. Place the transmission on a jack, and raise it to the engine level.

8. Install the transmission housing mounting bolts.

9. Install the transmission housing mounting bolts.

10. Install the transmission mount bracket (A), and tighten the mount bolt (B) loosely. Install the mount bracket bolt (C) and nuts (D), and tighten them to the specified torque, then tighten the mount bolt to the specified torque.
11. Remove the jack from the transmission.

12. Install the rear mount/bracket.

13. Attach the flywheel to the drive plate with six bolts. Rotate the crankshaft pulley to tighten the bolts to 1/2 of the specified torque, then to the final torque, in a criss-cross pattern. After tightening the last bolt, check that the crankshaft rotate freely.

14. Install the new set ring (A) on the intermediate shaft (B).
15. Clean the areas where the intermediate shaft contacts the transmission (differential) with solvent or carburetor cleaner, and dry with compressed air. Then install the intermediate shaft in the differential. While installing the intermediate shaft, be sure not to allow dust or other foreign particles to enter the transmission.
16. Install the bracket (C), and tighten the bolt (D) to the engine oil pan loosely, then tighten the bolt (E) to the intermediate shaft loosely. Hold the bracket against the intermediate shaft so there is no clearance between the bracket, intermediate shaft and oil pan, and tighten the bolt (D) to the specified torque, then tighten the bolt (E) to the specified torque.
17. Install the intermediate shaft cover (F), but do not tighten the bolts.
18. Tighten the upper left bolt (G) on the cover first, then upper right bolt (H), and lastly the lower bolt (1).

19. Install the new set ring (A) on the left driveshaft (B).
20. Install the right and left driveshafts. While installing the left driveshaft in the differential, be sure not to allow dust or other foreign particles to enter the transmission.

NOTE:
^ Clean the areas where the left driveshaft contacts the transmission (differential) with solvent or carburetor cleaner, and dry with compressed air.
^ Turn the right and left steering knuckle fully outward, and slide the left driveshaft into the differential until you feel its set ring engage the side gear. Slide the right driveshaft over the intermediate shaft splines until you feel the driveshaft engage the intermediate shaft set ring.

21. Support the front subframe (A) with the special tool and a jack, and lift it up to body.

22. Loosely install the new front subframe mounting bolts.

23. Align the reference marks (A) with the center of the subframe mounting bolts (B), then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

24. Install the rear mount bracket bolts.

25. Install the front mount bolt and nut.

26. Connect the ball joints (A) to the lower arms (B), and install the castle nuts (C) and spring clips (D). Install the spring clips from the inside of the vehicle, with their hooked sides facing the front (E) of the vehicle in the direction (F) shown.
27. Connect the ball joint pins (G) of the front stabilizer link (H) to the lower arms, and install the nuts (I). Install a 5 mm Allen wrench (J) in the top of the ball joint pins, and tighten the nuts.

28. Install the exhaust pipe A and the three way catalytic converter as an assembly with the new gaskets (B).

29. Connect the third H02S connector, and install the sensor harness on its clamp.

30. Connect the ATF cooler hose (A) to the ATF cooler line (B), then secure it with the clip (C).

31. Remove the engine support hanger, engine hanger support bar, and engine hanger adapter (EQS00BRSX0).

32. Connect the ATF cooler hoses (A) to the ATF cooler lines (B), then secure the hoses with the clips (C).

33. Connect transmission range switch connector (A), CVT driven pulley speed sensor connector (B), CVT speed sensor connector (C), and CVT speed sensor (secondary) connector (D).

34. Install the shift cable end (A) on the control lever (B), and install the shift cable bracket (C) on the transmission. Do not bend the shift cable excessively.
35. Install the plastic washer (D), then the steel washer (E), and install the spring clip (F) in the direction shown.

36. Connect solenoid harness connector (A) and CVT drive pulley speed sensor connector (B), and install the transmission ground cable (C).

37. Install the starter.
38. Connect the starter cables.

39. Install the air cleaner housing bracket (A).
40. Refill the transmission with ATF.
41. Install the battery base, then install the harness clamp on the battery base.
42. Install the battery tray and battery, then secure the battery with its hold-down bracket.
43. Install the air cleaner housing and intake air duct.
44. Install the engine cover.
45. Connect the battery positive terminal, then connect the battery negative terminal. Apply grease to the battery terminals.
46. Set the parking brake. Start the engine, and shift the transmission through all gears three times.
47. Check the shift lever operation, A/T gear position indicator operation, and shift cable adjustment.
48. Check and adjust the front wheel alignment.

49. Install the under-cover.
50. Install the splash shield.
51. Start the engine in the [P] or [N] position, and warm it up until engine coolant reaches to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan come on). And continue to run the engine at idle for more than 5 minutes to calibrate the idle control system on the ECM.
52. Turn off the engine, and check the ATF level.
53. Calibrate the start clutch pressure control system on the TCM.
54. Perform a road test.
55. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter the radio station presets, and set the clock.
56. Do the ECM idle learn procedure.
