Center Console Lifts Up in the Back

SYMPTOM

The center console lifts up in the back.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The padding for the center floor mat pushes up the back of the center console.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Cut the center floor mat where the center console ribs touch, and stick 35 mm squares of wool felt over the ribs.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Wool Felt: P/N 06993-SA5-000, H/C 2086676
(One roll fixes 30 vehicles.)

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Lift the center console from the center tunnel (eight clips). Leave the shift lever knob in place and the switch connectors plugged in.





2. Find the area on the center floor mat where the center console ribs touch.





3. Where the ribs touch, use a razor blade or utility knife to cut out the center floor mat, as shown.





4. Cut two 35 mm x 35 mm pieces of wool felt. Stick them over the ribs.

5. Reinstall the center console.
