DTC P0741: Problem in Lock-up Control System
2004-2005 Model

NOTE:
^ Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.
^ Keep replacement solenoid valves on hand;
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and B
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve

1. Check whether the HDS or the scan tool indicates another code.
Does the HDS or the scan tool indicate another code?
YES - Perform the troubleshooting flowchart for the indicated Code(s). Recheck for code P0741 after troubleshooting.
NO - Go to step 2.

NOTE: Do not continue with this troubleshooting until the causes of any other DTCs have been corrected.

2. Measure the line pressure.
Is the line pressure within the service limit?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Repair the hydraulic system as necessary.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Replace the torque converter clutch solenoid valve.
5. Replace the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and B.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and clear the DTC or reset the PCM memory by removing the No. 6 PCM fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box for more than 10 seconds.
7. Using the HDS, check to be sure that the engine coolant temperature is 176°F (80°C) or above. If the coolant temperature is low, warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on).
8. Drive the vehicle at the freeze data speed or at 55 mph (88 km/h) for more than 1 minute.
9. Recheck for code P0741.
Does the scan tool indicate code P0741?
YES - Replace the transmission and torque converter.
NO - The system is OK at this time.
