(Supersedes 08-022, dated July 21, 2011, to revise the information marked by asterisks)

REVISION SUMMARY

*Under WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION, the flat rate time was changed.*

SYMPTOM

The MIL is on with DTC P0301 (No.1 cylinder misfire detected) and DTC P0305 (No.5 cylinder misfire detected). DTC P0300 (random cylinder misfire detected) may also be stored.

PROBABLE CAUSE

An incorrect CKP high-speed learned value may be stored in the PCM after battery power is disconnected and reconnected to the PCM/ECM. This can cause the PCM/ECM to misinterpret the CKP input as a paired cylinder # 1 and # 5 misfire.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS.

SOFTWARE INFORMATION

HDS Software Version: 2.013.017 April 2008 (red) or later.

Control Module (CM) Update:
Application Version V6.11.07 or later.

NOTE:
If you use an earlier HDS software version, the HDS may incorrectly indicate that the vehicle does not need an update.

The updated PGM-FI software program IDs and P/Ns are shown. If this, or a later program ID, is the Current Program ID displayed during the update, the software for this service bulletin is already installed.
