DTC P2297: Primary HO2S (Sensor 1) Circuit High Voltage (2004-2005 models)

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and review the general troubleshooting information.

1. Reset the ECM.
2. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
3. Test-drive under these conditions:
- Transmission in 6th gear.
- Vehicle speed at 65 mph (105 km/h); steady speed for at least 1 minute, then slow down with the throttle completely closed for at least 5 seconds.

4. Check the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) output voltage with a scan tool or the HDS.

Does the voltage stay at 0.6 - 1.5 V?

YES - Replace the primary HO2S (Sensor 1).

NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) and at the ECM.
