Emissions - MIL ON/Air Injection DTC's Set

MIL Comes On With DTC P0410, P0411, P1410, P1415, P1416, or P2445

SYMPTOM

The MIL is on with one of these DTCs:

^ P0410 (air pump circuit malfunction)

^ P0411 (secondary air injection system incorrect flow)

^ P1410 (air pump malfunction)

^ P1415 (air pump electrical current sensor circuit low voltage)

^ P1416 (air pump electrical current sensor circuit high voltage)

^ P2445 (air pump malfunction)

PROBABLE CAUSE

The air pump relay (contactor assembly) sticks intermittently, causing the air pump (secondary air injection) to overheat.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the air pump and the air pump relay.

NOTE:
Collision damage and/or collision repair to the pulsed secondary air injection system is not covered by this bulletin.

DIAGNOSIS

1. Connect the HDS.

2. Navigate to PGM-FI DTC/Freeze Data.

Are any of the these DTCs stored: P0410, P0411, P01410, P1415, P1416, or P2445?





Yes - Inspect the pulsed secondary air injection air pump for overheating (Shown).

^ If the pump shows signs of overheating, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

^ If there are no signs of overheating, continue with normal troubleshooting.

No - Continue with normal troubleshooting. This bulletin does not apply.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Replace the air pump and the air pump relay.

^ Refer to page 11-208 of the 2000-2006 S2000 Service Manual, or

^ Online, type in the model and year of the vehicle, then enter the keyword AIR PUMP. Select Air Pump/Air Pump Relay Removal/Installation from the list.
