DTC P0717: Problem in CVT Input Shaft (Drive Pulley) Speed Sensor Circuit (No Signal Input)

General Description
The CVT input shaft (drive pulley) speed sensor is attached to the outside of the transmission housing. The CVT input shaft (drive pulley) speed sensor detects the number revolutions of the gear on the drive pulley and sends a pulsing signal to the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM converts the pulsing signal into drive pulley speed.

If the drive pulley speed is specified value or less for a set time or more when the engine speed measured by the CKP sensor is specified value or more, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
The drive pulley speed is 100 rpm or less for at least 15 seconds when the engine speed measured by the CKP sensoris 600 rpm or more.

Driving Pattern
Start the engine, and drive the vehicle at a speed of 19 mph (30 km/h) or more for at least 30 seconds.

- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the MIL
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the MIL
The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs.

The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
