MIL Comes On With DTC P0111 and/or P2183

REVISION SUMMARY

SYMPTOM

The MIL comes on with DTC P0111 (intake air temperature sensor circuit range/performance problem) and/or DTC P2183 (engine coolant temperature sensor 2 circuit range/performance problem).

PROBABLE CAUSE

On vehicles equipped with an engine block heater, the ECM/PCM misinterprets IAI (intake air temperature) and ECT 2 (engine coolant temperature) sensor inputs.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS.

DIAGNOSIS

Check the engine to see if a block heater is installed.

^ If the engine has a block heater, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

^ If the engine does not have a block heater, this service bulletin does not apply. Do the normal troubleshooting for DTC P0111 and/or P2183.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS and software version 2.009.007 or later. Refer to Service Bulletin 01-023, Updating Control Units/Modules.
